You Don’t Need a Finished Manuscript to Get Help With Your Book.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! You can come to Book Coaching with an idea you haven’t written yet, notes scattered across your phone, a few unfinished chapters, or a manuscript you’ve been working on for years.
You don’t have to figure everything out before asking for help.
That’s what Book Coaching is for.
Together, we’ll look at where your book is now, where you’re trying to take it, and what’s keeping you from moving forward.
This isn’t someone taking your story and writing it for you.
It’s your book, your voice, and your story. I’m here to help you develop it.
Before We Meet, I Want to Know Your Book.
Every Book Coaching session begins with a required Pre-Session Questionnaire.
You’ll tell me:
What your book is about
Where you are in the writing process
Who you’re writing for
What you want the reader to take away from the book
What you’ve completed so far
Where you’re stuck
What questions or decisions you need help with
What you want us to accomplish during the session
What you’ve already tried
What relevant materials you have available
You’ll also have an opportunity to provide relevant excerpts, notes, outlines, chapter lists, or other materials directly related to what we’re working on.
I review your questionnaire and relevant materials before we meet so we can use your appointment for the work—not spend most of it figuring out why you’re there.
Pre-session materials must be submitted at least 24 hours before your appointment.
What Can We Work On?
Your Book Coaching session is built around where your book needs support.
We can work through:
Developing your book idea
Clarifying what the book is really about
Identifying your intended reader
Defining the purpose and central message
Organizing scattered ideas
Developing your chapter structure
Deciding what belongs in the book
Identifying gaps in the manuscript
Working through a chapter you’re struggling with
Strengthening the direction of your story or message
Creating a realistic writing plan
Working through writer’s block and second-guessing
Determining what needs to happen before the manuscript is ready for publishing
You don’t need to know which of these you need before you book. Your questionnaire helps me understand where we need to focus.
Choose Your Session
30 Minutes — $75
Best for one focused book question or decision.
Use this session when you need direction on a specific chapter, your title or concept, your audience, an organizational problem, or another clearly defined area of your book.
60 Minutes — $125
Best when you need room to work through the book more deeply.
We can examine your idea, structure, chapter organization, message, writing challenges, or several connected decisions and establish clear next steps.
90 Minutes — $175
Best for a deeper book-development working session.
This gives us more room to work through multiple areas of the book, untangle scattered ideas, develop structure, solve larger manuscript problems, and create a stronger plan for moving forward.
You’ll Leave Knowing What Comes Next.
Book Coaching isn’t supposed to leave you with another pile of ideas and no idea what to do with them.
After your session, you’ll receive a brief Next Steps Recap outlining the priorities and actions we identified together.
Then you can get back to writing with direction.
What Book Coaching Does Not Include
Book Coaching is a collaborative development service.
I help you think through, organize, develop, and move your book forward. I do not take over the writing process.
Book Coaching does not include:
Ghostwriting
Manuscript editing
Proofreading
Full manuscript evaluations
Formatting
Cover design
Illustration
Publishing or uploading your book
Those services are separate when applicable.
About Pre-Session Reading
Pre-session review allows me to understand what we’re working on before your appointment. It is not a full manuscript review or editing service.
Please submit only the materials relevant to the focus of your scheduled session. If your book requires extensive reading or manuscript-level evaluation before I can properly advise you, we’ll discuss the appropriate service before that work is completed.
You Don’t Have to Publish With Healing Time Publishing.
Book Coaching and publishing are separate services.
If you eventually want publishing support, we can discuss that when your manuscript is ready.
If you choose another publishing path, that’s okay too.
The purpose of Book Coaching is to help you get the book out of your head, through the messy middle, and closer to a manuscript you feel confident moving forward with.
You don’t have to know how to finish the whole book today. We just need to know what we’re working on next.
For this one, I would keep single sessions available without a consultation, just like we decided for Action & Accountability. The required Book Coaching questionnaire gives you what you need to prepare before the appointment without making a new author pay for two appointments just to get started.
